Theodora, 21, has already racked up thousands of streams, around 40 dates, collaborations with Louis Vuitton and Converse, and a Flammes nomination, all in the service of a rich and diverse music. She embodies the new French music scene, one that has managed to creolize influences from all over the world to create a unique identity. It’s a much-needed breath of fresh air, shaking up codes to shape a distinctive artistic personality, where hip-hop, Afro sounds and electronic music are the main ingredients.
Theodora’s musical history is above all a family affair. Her older brother Jeez Suave took up beatmaking and suggested that his sister sing. As fused in life as in music, their future took shape and their first compositions emerged from this fraternal collaboration. These young people from the Congolese diaspora have enriched their music by moving around a lot. Having grown up in several countries, in a variety of cultures and in a rich musical environment, brother and sister have drawn on this wealth to nourish their creativity.
Theodora and Jeez began work on their first collaborative project. This period of intense creation coincided with their recent move to the 93. This project enabled Theodora to synthesize not only her musical influences, but also the person she is. Buoyed by the track Le paradis se trouve dans le 93 and its million-plus streams, a veritable ode to her new home, she quickly captured the attention of a wide audience. With the Lili aux paradis artificiels Tome 1 and 2 series, Theodora reveals herself and expresses her identity. She tackles such important subjects as mental health, depression, sexual violence and suicide attempts with great maturity. She seeks to make people dance about universal issues, a therapeutic art form that doesn’t forget the good times and lighter aspects of life either. Both projects are representative of today’s youth, while incorporating the musical nuances of tomorrow.
The singles Besoin d’aide and FNG allow Theodora to complete her discography and defend her music live. After a Flammes nomination as female revelation of the year, an appearance on France Inter, a concert in front of 40,000 people at La Bastille, and several magazine covers, Theodora is now well established. Today, the artist wants to take the next step: present music that represents her 100% and reveal another side of herself, that of a 21-year-old who sees herself as a future world star. An assertive, sexy, self-confident woman who aspires to shine as brightly as her jewels.
To become the woman she wants to be, Theodora presents her new cabaret with the Bad Boys Lovestory project, styled BBL. A dense project featuring roller-coaster love stories, largely inspired by Theodora herself. Always accompanied by her brother Jeez, other composers have joined the adventure, and this project is the result of multiple collaborations. Virtuoso John Makabi (Aya Nakamura, Tayc, Fally Ipupa), supported by veteran producer Neon Valley (Disiz), the duo Koboi (Eddy de Pretto, Jey Brownie), and featuring artists Jahlys and Zoomy.
