“I Forget (I’m So Young)” is the new song by Sofie Royer about “the transience of time and the ability to forget, and how that allows you to live a thousand different lives”. The video, directed by Jasmin Baumgartner, follows Sofie coming home at an unknown hour, restless, and wanting to take something to fall asleep. When she opens her prescription bottle, she finds a small diamond amongst the tablets which she swallows, and soon falls headfirst into a lucid vision of a different world. The video’s dream sequences were filmed at Swarovski’s Crystal World in Tyrol, and feature sets designed by Brian Eno, Fernando Romero, Fredrikson Stallard.
Sofie Royer is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vienna who refracts heady concepts and her interest in classical tradition into shimmering electro-pop songs. She channelled her love for French chanson into her 2020 debut, Cult Survivor, and looked to Viennese opera and ballet traditions for 2022’s Harlequin. She guested on Lewis OfMan’s latest record Cristal Medium Blue, and on Toro Y Moi’s MAHAL in 2022. Earlier this year, Royer released “Paris is burning”, a duet with Alexander Dexter Jones. More music is on the way soon. Having opened for LCD Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey, Air and Lewis OfMan in the past year alone, Sofie Royer will perform at Rock en Seine Festival this Sunday, with headline shows in the US, UK and Europe in November and December.
