La Roux burst onto the scene in 2009 with her Grammy-winning self-titled debut album and the era-defining hits In for the Kill and Bulletproof. Not only did she put synth-pop on the map, but she also redefined pop music in the late 2000s, paving the way for other synth-driven artists to reach the mainstream.
Her trailblazing spirit transcended music, as she became known for her distinct androgynous style and non-conformist attitude, challenging traditional expectations of what a pop star should look and act like. Her 2014 album Trouble in Paradise and 2020’s Supervision explored a broad spectrum of sounds, and her latest work continues to push boundaries.
In her forthcoming album—100% self-written, composed, and produced—La Roux parts ways with her past self, stepping into her own narrative and channeling themes of identity, reinvention, and personal liberation. Nearly 15 years into her career, and having collaborated with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Tyler, the Creator, Skream, Major Lazer, New Order, and Chromeo, La Roux remains a revolutionary artist, unafraid to break the mold and challenge limits while fiercely advocating for her artistry and voice.
