Hohnen Ford

North London artist Hohnen Ford returns with the sublime new single “A Lot To Give,” a duet with multi-platinum, chart-topping Birdy. It marks Ford’s first release on her new label home, Giant Music. Fresh off supporting Orla Gartland, Ford now joins FINNEAS as a special guest on his UK and EU tour this spring.

Rooted in themes of growth, identity, and feminine resilience, “A Lot To Give” explores what women carry and release as they evolve. The track’s haunting harmonies and delicate instrumentation—piano, acoustic guitar, and double bass—create a spectral third voice between Ford and Birdy. Recorded live during a misty winter morning at Dom Monk’s studio in Frome, its first take captured a magic that couldn’t be replicated.

“It’s been so joyful making this song with Birdy!” Ford shares. “We met through a mutual friend in 2023, bonded over olives in a bar, and felt like writing together was the perfect excuse to hang out more. The song ended up about what we carry and let go of as we grow into ourselves.”

“A Lot To Give” marks an exciting new chapter following Ford’s critically acclaimed debut EP I Wish I Had A God. Known for her emotive songwriting and expansive sonic palette, she weaves jazz, folk, and classic songwriting into something uniquely her own. Her interpretations of Great American Songbook standards have earned admiration from artists like John Mayer, Tom Odell, and Marcus Mumford.

With training in jazz voice from the Royal Academy and a rich musical upbringing, Ford’s work is steeped in emotional honesty and vulnerability. As she hits the road with FINNEAS, “A Lot To Give” further cements her as a distinctive voice in the alt-folk space—one to watch, and one who’s here to stay.
