Flyte is the project of English songwriters Will Taylor and Nick Hill, who met at secondary school and later settled in Hackney, London. Influenced by Taylor’s English teacher parents and literary inspirations, including their namesake Sebastian Flyte from Brideshead Revisited, the duo is known for thoughtful songwriting and rich harmonies.
Their debut album The Loved Ones (2017), recorded in the Australian outback with producer Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Julia Jacklin), explored the complexities of love and loss. Its ambitious arrangements and lyrical depth earned acclaim, including The Sunday Times’ title of “Best British debut of the year.”
Their second album This Is Really Going To Hurt (2021) marked a shift toward raw, confessional songwriting, created in Los Angeles with Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Bon Iver), focusing on emotional fallout and healing.
Following tours across Europe and North America, Flyte reunited with Sarlo to record their most collaborative work yet at London’s legendary Konk Studios. Their latest self-titled album, inspired by Taylor’s relationship with artist Billie Marten, explores the early stages of love and features contributions from Laura Marling, Bombay Bicycle Club, and M Field.
